These were the words with which Godswill Akpabio, Senate President, captured the essence of Yakubu Gowon, former Nigerian Head of State in shaping Nigerian history positively, particularly his historic role to protect its unity.
Akpabio, who joined other Nigerian leaders in congratulating the former Nigerian leader who turned 91 on Sunday, October 19, 2025, particularly referred to the policy of “No Victor, No Vanquished” the former Head of State declared at the civil war Nigeria fought under his leadership, saying, he remained a beacon of unity and national healing.
Commending the efforts of the nonagenarian, in keeping Nigeria one, in and out of power, Akpabio, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and currently Chairman of the National Assembly, stressed that history would be kind the ex-Head of State.
