For Segun Shonubi, sports enthusiast, career builder, seasoned administrator, and humanist, it was another day of glory on Friday, when he stood on the podium to be decorated as recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Resource Person Award by the Lagos Country Club (LCC).
The former Director of Capacity Building, Certification, and Standards at The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), was conferred with the 2025 edition of the award during the Club’s 2026 New Year Party by Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, who represented Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, the Special Guest of Honour.
Seyi Adewunmi, President of the Club, who outlined the raison d’etre for the special recognition, in his citation, noted how Shonubi had showcased exemplary qualities in the management of men and materials, which had contributed to the quantum leap the club experienced in recent years.
Enthusing on how the seasoned administrator brought his wide experience to bear in handling specific tasks, Adewumi, added that through his unwavering dedication and selfless service – qualities that fundamentally advance the ideals of the Lagos Country Club of the club – Shonubi had contributed in promoting the institution’s core values.
Currently the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee in LCC, Shonubi, for instance, demonstrated his visionary leadership when he led the Committee to revive the Lagos Country Club Business Forum, after a 10-year hiatus, successfully repositioning it as a premier platform for thought leaders to collaborate on strategies for national growth and economic stability.
Under the leadership of the seasoned professional with an illustrious career, the Committee was able to initiate high-level strategic engagements with key stakeholders, including political leaders, senior media executives, and captains of industry in advancing the objective.
The ex-CIBN executive, who currently brings his vast expertise to FIC Professionals Network Limited as an Executive Director, where he plays a pivotal role in driving Nigeria’s financial inclusion ecosystem, is happily married to Hon. Justice Adenike Shonubi of the Lagos State High Court.
