Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed, swore on Thursday that she is not making up the story that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, cannot effectively lift a teacup, saying that on many occasions, she actually helped him to do so, maintaining an alarm she raised a few days ago about the state of physical health of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mohammed, former Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council PCC (APC-PCC), who said said everything about the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaji Bola Tinubu is motivated by money, told a crew of The Morning Show, a breakfast programme on Arise Television that Tinubu’s health status was not anything Nigerians could risk.
She narrated how she met with Tinubu in 2007 and started a political relationship that had blossomed over the years, but added that though she reluctantly agreed to work with him in his current engagement to be President, her conscience continued to prick her not only because of his poor health situation, but his complete absence of a programme for the northern part of Nigeria.
Hear her: “What a lot of people don’t know is that I didn’t meet Asiwaju in APC. We met at ACN. I didn’t go to CPC. I keep saying it, I was the first person to start Buhari’s campaign. They are still living on my structure in the North West. Anytime we tried to make an alliance, particularly with the G-4 – Orji Kalu, Buhari, Atiku and Asiwaju. This was as way back as 2007. It was always Buhari that opted out. He didn’t want the alliance for reasons best known to him.
“Because he did not want a contest in which he will not be the sole candidate and he did not want a contest in which people will not step down for him. So, we did that once, we did that twice and on the third time, I said I wasn’t going with Buhari, because I’m not his made. I decided to stay with my CAN. That was when I started my interactions with Asiwaju. And I know that on several occasions, I had to hold the cup for him.
“Everybody saw what happened when was given the (APC) flag. Our honourable Chairman or their honourable Chairman now, had to help him to hold the flag. Everybody saw it. But what bothers me is not so much about his physical health. There was a President from America that sat on a wheelchair and ruled from a wheelchair. But, when you’re mentally deranged, it’s unacceptable, because you can’t decipher, you can’t think, you can’t do anything, you want to sleep anytime, anyday. See what is happening in the Camerouns. Let me tell you, in the Camerouns, in nine years, they see their President once and they still accept. Nigeria is not Cameroun. Nigeria is not South Sudan. We’re far more sophisticated than that. So, that is for that.”
Accusing Tinubu of using money to buy up loyalty, she said: “This is the first time that I know that governors do not even sponsor the presidential campaign. Normally the governor sponsors the presidential campaign in his state, but this time around, it is Asiwaju that is doing it.
“Everything about Asiwaju is about money, there’s nothing like honour. For God’s sake what do we want? Can we continue to wallow in this, can we continue to deceive ourselves, who are we lying to? We are only lying to ourselves. We see these things. The truth has been written on the horizon. Why are we now turning the other eye?”
Mohammed, who also debunked being sacked from Tinubu’s campaigns, contrary to her willingly resigning, said: “Not just that, as far as my expulsion from the APC is concerned, what took them so long? They should have told the public before I resigned, but they kicked me out unfortunately because they are so silly, they are saying after my resignation, they actually kicked me out.
“They have no respect for the psyche of Nigerians. They think we are all a bunch of idiots. We are not, we can think. I took my time because they pleaded with me. I am a Muslim. He said in the name of Allah…In the name of Allah please accept this appointment. I respect your stance. I said he should give me a blueprint, but he said he doesn’t have a blueprint.”
