Ronaldo regrets Man United return *Says I’ve been betrayed *Rues Ferguson’s absence
Cristiano Ronaldo, football prodigy and five-time winner of Balon D’or, has finally confirmed that he is not happy at Manchester United, his former club he returned to, last year after his historic sojourn through Spain and Italy.
Wave-making Ronaldo, who became a sensation under Sir Alex Ferguson at the English side, had left for Real Madrid in Spain and later Juventus in Italy, before touching back to base before the close of transfer windows in the 2021 season.

Stressing that there as an attempt to force him out of the club, he pointed in the direction of Hag and some other people, saying: “Yes. Not only the coach, but the other two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed.”
Ronaldo, only second to Lionel Messi, with whom he shares a record 12 Balon D’or wins, said he had “no respect” for the United coach, since he “doesn’t show respect for me,” adding: “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.
“If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”
Apparently reminscing about the club under Ferguson, he said: “The progress was zero. Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed. Nothing changes. Not only the jacuzzi, the pool, even the gym. Even some points of technology, the kitchen, the chefs – who I appreciate, lovely people! They stop in time which surprised me a lot.
“I thought I would see different things, technology, infrastructure. Unfortunately, we see many things I’m used to seeing when I’m 21, 22, 23. It surprised me a lot.
“For example, an interesting point is how a club like Manchester United sacked Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer), they bring in a sporting director Ralf Rangnick which is something nobody understands. This guy is not even a coach! A big club like Manchester United bringing in a sporting director surprised not only me but all the world.”
Ronaldo, whose current contract expires next summer, had joined United from Sporting Lisbon in 2003, from where he left for Madrid in 2009, then Juventus in 2018 before a bank-breaking, historic return August 2021.
After a 20-trophy haul, including the 2022-23 season – his best – where he led the club to a historic Continental Treble: the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League, Pep Guardiola indicated his intention to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.
Guardiola’s 20 trophy haul, within a 10-year period, included six Premier League titles and the club’s only Champions League, confirms his enviable place as a football manager, transcending Barcelona FC, Bayen Munich before berthing at the Etihad.
Beginning his highlight career at Barcelona in 2007, he had left the Catalonian Giants in June 2012 to berth at Allianz Arena, in Germany, in 2013 where he spent three years, enriching the club’s shelf with seven trophies before his exit in 2016 on his way to England.
Aston Villa’s visit to the Etihad on Sunday will be his final match in charge, although he is set to continue working for the City Football Group as a global ambassador.
“What a time we have had together!” Guardiola said in a club statement on Friday. Don’t ask me the reasons I’m leaving. There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it’s my time. Nothing is eternal; if it were, I would be here. Eternal will be the feeling, the people, the memories, the love I have for my Manchester City.”
News of the Catalans’ impending departure was first reported on Monday.
At that point, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was tight-lipped on his future as City missed out on the Premier League title to Arsenal 24 hours later.
Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who previously worked on Guardiola’s staff at City, has been widely reported as the man set to take over at the Etihad.
The 55-year-old’s trophy haul also included three FA Cups, five League Cups, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and three Community Shields.
Guardiola arrived in England as already one of Europe’s most decorated coaches.
His four-year spell at boyhood club Barcelona between 2008 and 2012 captured admirers across the globe, winning two Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.
He added three more league titles in three seasons at Bayern.
A similarly short spell was expected when City lured him to the Premier League.
But his influence has transformed the English game at all levels over the past 10 years.
Backed by the deep pockets of Abu Dhabi royalty, City have stepped out of the shadow of local rivals Manchester United to become the dominant force in the Premier League.
Guardiola’s brand of passing football has been copied from grassroots through to the elite level.
Even City’s competitors have turned to his disciples to catch up.
Arsenal’s 22-year wait to win the Premier League was ended by another of his former assistants, Mikel Arteta.

But their rock solid defensive record again edged them closer to the title.
Since losing to City last month, Arsenal have not conceded in their last four league games.
