President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his decision to appoint Major General Yahaya Farouk as Chief of Army Staff ahead of his superiors in the Military was due to his expereince in the fight against insurgency in the North East.

President Buhari who spoke on Arise News TV on Thursday also said the new Army Chief enjoys the support, and understanding of the troops.

Yahaya replaced Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in a plane crash with 10 other military personnel while on an official trip to Kaduna State.

On when the Twitter ban would be lifted, the President declined to comment.

According to him, "I will keep that one to myself."
