Tragedy has struck at the home of Orji Uzor Kalu, the Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate with the death of his first wife, Ifeoma Ada Kalu, the family announced on Monday.
Details are still sketchy including the cause of death, but she was said to have died in the United States of America, where Kalu, an international businessman, maintains a home.
The Senator, who used his verified Facebook page, to announce the development, described the late First Lady, who died at 61, as a woman of virtues who was committed to the service of God and humanity.
Calling for prayer for the deceased, he said a service in her honour was scheduled to hold in the United States of America (USA).
Entitled: Transition to Eternal Glory, he wrote: “With a heavy heart and pain, we announce the passing on to eternal glory of Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu aged 61 years. She was a woman of virtue who was committed to the service of God and humanity.
“A memorial service in her honour is scheduled to hold in the United States of America (USA). Please remember her and loved ones in prayers at this difficult period. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
