BREAKING: Ayu bows, steps aside, replaced by Damagum, as PDP leadership crisis boils over

Iyorchia Ayu, has been replaced Umar Damagum, who is to act for the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after he stepped aside from the position, following the sanctioning of his suspension from the party, by a Makurdi High Court.

Ayu, whose suspension was announced on Sunday, his Igyorov Council Ward in Gboko local government area, Benue State, was on Monday asked to stop parading himself, as the National Chairman of the opposition party, pending the outcome of a sustantive suit against him.

Damagum, who was the Deputy National Chairman (North), will occupy the seat in an acting capacity pending the determination of the substantive suit restraining Ayu from parading himself as National Chairman.

The Ward Executive Committee suspended Ayu for alleged anti-party activities and failing to pay his membership dues.
