Two children were among 10 members of a family who perished in a road accident after the car in which they were travelling was involved in a head-on collision with a truck carrying firewood.
The victims, eight adults and two children, were said to be family members returning from a wedding ceremony of one of their relatives and that the accident happened along the Kaduna-Kachia highway, near a village called Makyelli near Idon, around 5pm on Sunday.
The victims were all from Kano but resided in Kachia town of Kaduna State, reports say, quoting Zubairu Mato, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Sector Commander, who confirmed the incident as attributing it to a dangerous overtake which led to the driver losing control.
Mato, who noted that the Gulf car was overloaded at the time of the accident said among the victims were eight adults and two children.
